My my, this boy knew how to tell his story-

His candid, plain truths made this book such a joy to read! His introduction allows us to enter the world of ''Just Chris'' where we gain that special understanding of his heritage, and all that it means to him.

I began reading this book through terribly shabby cheap glasses but was unable to put it down.  The desire enough to warrant an early  Christmas present, my new glasses!

For the rest of that sunny afternoon, I found myself planted in a seat outside, hanging on every word Chris wrote. The admiration  and appreciation he returns to his 'mama', beautiful. Sharing each moment from his birth, complete with the string of operations he faced in order to live within a 'normal' society, beyond inspiring.

I am in awe of a bond that had been born, long before Chris first met his  mother -they share something too special for words, yet Chris still managed to capture it  so that we might learn.

He has already had an interesting life, but it's only just begun-"Soaring Eagle", the name he received from his Sioux family, reminded me of words from a poem~ 'Soar high like an eagle, landing safely among the stars'-

I had a wonderful lesson in American History as told through Chris on his travels, almost felt like I was right there! Yes, indeed a child of the world, so when will Chris be coming to the 'land down under'? Bring the recipe for your mama's Chicken Morg perhaps!

Christopher's mother, Debra Shively Welch is also an acclaimed author, see her Review here [...]
