After
waiting almost 2o years, my ‘spaceboy’, my hero, the absolute man of
my dreams had arrived in Sydney & I was there….eagerly awaiting
his stage entrance at the Sydney Entertainment Centre-
I
have many special memories, moments I treasure & will remember
forever…seeing David Bowie in concert was by far, top on my list &
to this day, still cry when I reminisce
Only
a few days prior my hair was treated to an amazing transformation by my
mate Gen, hairstylist extraordinaire- all I
had to do next was locate an outfit &
secure thebooking
on a room at the Westin Hotel in Sydney!
We figured we might as well make the most of the whole weekend down in
Sydney as I wanted everything to be perfect!
For
so long my mother had listened to me in my room when I was just a teeny
bopper, playing his songs, singing along and probably driving her absolutely mad, yet
each time there was any event where David might be appearing, or any
news articles on him she would never hesitate to pass along to me-
Back
when I was still in my 30’s (gosh when was that??) I remember mum
calling to say there was a movie she had taped with David as one of the
lead roles. Mum actually sat through the entire film whilst taping
before posting off to me-The movie was ‘Absolute Beginners’ & it
obviously holds a special place in my heart for many reasons.
David Bowie is not only famous as a rock star, no, this genius has
appeared in many popular films & stage theatrical shows-
To name just a few: 'Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence', 'The Man who fell to
earth', 'The Hunger', 'Cat People' & smaller
roles in films such as 'The Last temptation of Christ' and his amazing
stage theatrical performance in 'The Elephant Man'- His other film which
would become a smash hit was the ever popular, magical & mystical
tale which he starred, 'Labyrinth', where David showed his real love of
fantasy and connection with the child within
-a long way from the days when he narrated children's stories~
A one-off narration of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf by David.
Probably the most unlikely Bowie project thus far: a straightforward and charming performance of the narration to Prokofiev's immortal orchestral work for children recorded for his son Zowie and for Zowie's contemporaries everywhere.

This is not your average singer/entertainer by no means…David stands alone and that’s what I find so fascinating! He has taken us that admire him on a journey through the years which has seen many changes each as exciting as the
last! A space boy but always his own Pablo Picasso! A man of many colours with a voice that just remains as sexy as he himself!
I probably have collected as many albums as possible and that includes many rare
vinyl's! To name my favourite David Bowie song too hard, but of the songs I most enjoy are not just those from his days of ‘Ziggy Stardust’ or Major Tom…after his Sydney concert David gave us a new album! His present style-he only gets better with age! His fans, like me were thrilled when he took us down memory lane with tacks such as ‘The Man Who Sold The World’, ‘Under Pressure’, ‘China Girl’ & ‘Let’s Dance’-
But let’s just get back to his arrival on stage shall we coz it was mind blowing!!!
There had been a strange lead up to his actual appearance that night-many of us probably wished the intro band would hurry up and just finish playing for David was right behind them…not taking anything away from them, it was simply David the crowd had paid and waited in anticipation for-

I being just one. My partner had only just stepped downstairs to grab a drink, when suddenly, all lights went out!! My heart was palpitating…I have never experienced anything like how I felt that night…Then, the stage came alive with an entourage of animated characters...a band as such. All playing their instruments, all appearing as if watching a cartoon upon a screen-A band, playing in time to a soft but steady background beat….as the beat grew stronger, so too did the sound of hands clapping along. I knew this beat? This was the moment…he was coming!!! And as this animated band strummed along with this beat, another shape began to strut towards them……a figure of a man…in jeans, shirt & jacket with the added touch of a red necktie that hung loosely around his neck…as we all had our eyes glued to this visual effect, the male figure, with the blonde short hair burst through the animated copy!!! IT WAS DAVID BOWIE IN THE FLESH…and while the beat belt out the notes to ‘Rebel Rebel’, I lost all control!! This was the moment I’d waited so long for, the only REAL entertainer I had ever wished to
see. Here he was and I was right there!

A zillion thoughts went through my head that night, especially of mum, for he even sang ‘Absolute Beginners’ and I knew mum just had to have been there with me.
The tears I cried were for a number of reasons that night, probably heightened by the fact mum had always wished for me to see this man in concert-It had conjured up many emotions but none more than the absolute buzz I was feeling…the venue was electric & I was swept away completely!
For his entire show, I was captivated, spellbound and (sorry to my hubby) madly in love! Lol
From his more ‘bopped up’ version of ‘Rebel Rebel’, to songs taken from his latest album;” REALITY”-songs such as ‘New Killer Star’, ‘Pablo Picasso’,’ Looking for Water’
plus the trip down memory lane…his Reality Tour of the world had once again shown us that this man never ever grows old, and just gets better with age!
Hubby later surprised me with a black tank-top with David’s Reality logo on it!
I then became a member of the reality e-team over at David’s website and purchased a couple of unreal shirts which I wear with pride~
